Driving traffic to your site is a hugely important piece of the puzzle when it comes to building your mailing list and winning over new customers.
Many business owners get discouraged because they set up a squeeze page and put an opt-in form on their blog or website… only to find that they’re not actually getting anyone to sign up. This tends to happen when people have the “if you build it, they will come” way of thinking. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. The only way to get traffic is to work hard at getting traffic. It doesn’t happen overnight or by magic.
If your business don’t have any traffic coming in, or you have just a trickle here and there, then there’s no way to know if your squeeze page is actually working and converting or not.
For example, if only
10 people see your squeeze page and no one opts-in, that doesn’t mean the page is a failure. What it means is that you need more traffic before you can make a decision.
It’s important to get a lot of traffic coming in before you make any determinations about your conversion rates. You’ll at least need 100 site visitors or a few hundred before you can start to judge how things are working.
This is where a lot of business owners fall down. They get all excited and create a squeeze page and think that their business is going to be an instant success. But then they get tired of waiting for that traffic or don’t work on getting traffic at all and declare that it “doesn’t work.” The reality is that they don’t yet have enough traffic. Focusing on traffic is an important piece of the puzzle.
